THE HISTORY OF COSTUME AS THE ART OF CONTEMPORARY FEMININITY
For the FW26/27 season, YANINA Couture unveils "Provocation", a collection that reflects on femininity, sensuality, and the timeless dialogue between past and present. Drawing inspiration from history, Creative Director Yulia Yanina once again transforms fashion into the language of different eras, where costume becomes a reflection of time, character, and human desire.
The new collection is a journey through centuries, a refined reinterpretation of historical costume through the eyes of the contemporary woman. Yulia Yanina explores the strength and beauty of the past, translating its most iconic elements into modern silhouettes that are elegant, sensual, and fully relevant today.
The collection draws inspiration from the impeccably tailored men's frock coats of the eighteenth century, the grand silhouettes of the late nineteenth century, the intricate corsetry of the Marie Antoinette era, and the rich legacy of historical dress as a whole. For the designer, the dialogue between heritage and modernity remains essential—a tribute to the craftsmanship and artistry of the past that gives tradition a contemporary voice.
Among the collection's most compelling references is women's lingerie from the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries. Silk ribbons, delicate lace, and exquisite embroidery evoke an intimate world once hidden from public view, yet one that has always fascinated and inspired. For decades, luxurious lingerie was associated with women of the demi-monde, until the twentieth century gradually redefined beauty and sensuality as something every woman could embrace.
The collection takes its name, "Provocation", from this idea. Yet, within the world of YANINA Couture, provocation is never overt. Instead, it becomes a subtle, intellectual gesture and an expression of feminine confidence and inner strength. Elements of lingerie-inspired dressing appear throughout the collection as refined provocations, sensual yet always sophisticated, graceful, and impeccably elegant.
As always, the ultimate muse for Yulia Yanina is woman herself. This season, the designer found inspiration in heroines seemingly lifted from the pages of Honoré de Balzac, Guy de Maupassant, and Émile Zola, beautiful young women dreaming of aristocratic lives, courtesans aspiring to become ladies of society, and ambitious ingénues longing for recognition and fame. It is a world immortalized by the great French novelists, yet one that still feels remarkably relevant today.
This season, Yulia Yanina brings together seemingly opposite ideas: sensuality and innocence, boldness and nobility, theatricality and effortless elegance. Enriching the provocative narrative with the House's signature floral motifs, touches of fantasy, and exceptional couture craftsmanship, she transforms daring concepts into expressions of refined luxury.
Introducing an entirely new design element, the couturière adorns selected looks with delicate "wings", giving the silhouettes an ethereal lightness. These airy details invite every woman to become the heroine of her own fairytale, a woodland nymph, a fairy, or a dreamlike creature suspended between fantasy and reality.
The eveningwear chapter of the collection becomes a celebration of femininity in all its forms. Each look can be interpreted in its own way: some may see a heroine emerging from the canvases of the Old Masters, a ballerina poised beneath the theatre lights, or a woodland nymph disappearing into a blooming garden. What unites them is admiration for a woman's beauty, strength, and infinite complexity.
Flowers, the unmistakable signature of the House, flourish this season in a rich botanical symphony. Hydrangeas, lily of the valley, apple blossoms, bluebells, cornflowers, daisies, and forget-me-nots are transformed into intricate decorative elements, brought to life through embroidery and sculptural appliqués.
Exceptional attention has been devoted to artisanal techniques, which reach a new level of sophistication this season. The House's ateliers have developed proprietary methods for creating three-dimensional floral embellishments, allowing lily of the valley, apple blossoms, and bluebells to bloom across gowns in sculptural embroidery and couture appliqué. Meticulous hand embroidery, intricate embellishment, and masterful lace craftsmanship once again demonstrate the extraordinary savoir-faire of YANINA Couture.
For YANINA Couture, beauty exists beyond trends and beyond time. It is a lasting cultural language that requires no explanation. The House remains devoted to preserving tradition and craftsmanship while passing them from one generation to the next, creating a lasting legacy. The YANINA Couture woman transcends age and time. Beautiful, intelligent, and self-assured, she wears history as part of her present, transforming heritage into modernity.
